Identity Theft Monitoring
July 24th, 2008Not long ago identity theft was a minor issue and something that not too many people even knew about let alone worried about. Now as more and more of our daily lives becomes data in computers all over the world it is getting harder to protect our identity as well as our credit from those who wish to use it to benefit themselves. At this point and time the laws are varied and strung out regarding the consumer and their rights if their identity is stolen and thousands of dollars get spent in their name leaving them to foot the bill. For the most part at this time the victim is still responsible for the debt even though they are just that, a victim of a crime. Too often the thief is a faceless individual who may be in another country so hard to pursue. While in other cases the person who stole the identity is a friend, ex-employee, or even an estranged family member. But even in these cases it is hard to get recompensation in order to pay the outstanding debts to the creditors. Unfortunately preventing identity theft is not always something you can be in complete control over, but you can monitor your credit for suspicious activity and use a credit shield service to pro-active in stopping the problem before it gets out of hand.
